A note to the pretends!

For those who know me, I don't have to explain the role of music in my life. For those who don't , music is to ME as pizza is to PIZZA HUT! (ah, an odd way to put it, but imagine Pizza Hut without any pizzas!). I am not a critic, though I have my own preference for music. I happen to hear anything that pleases my ears. Okay! I admit, I do show a bit discrimination against the stuff that actually questions God or rise up against him - oh well, this I do not bother to change, as I believe in God a lot. I am mostly into Rock and Metal, but yes Pop, Hip-hop, Ambient, Blues and other stuff too has a place in my all time favourites.

Band T-shirts were popular way back since the 80s or so. Refined wears with that strong jet-black base coat and the names and images of artists in a cool pose. I have quite a number of them if I should say so myself. I wear them to show my appreciation and respect to my favourite artists. But lately, I've been noticing something that's been around me maybe since the 80s themselves - 'noobs' running around, in the same T-shirts that I wear to show loyalty.

I mean, come on! I met a guy from my tuition class wearing a "Cannibal Corpse" (a metal band known for their fierce and powerful music) T-shirt, with gory imagery and a superbly done title. But sadly (and pathetically) he cannot name a single song by them. The idiot cannot even hum one tune by the band. Can you believe this? He happens to wear them for the 'brutual and cool' images on the shirt. I'd have smashed his head with a guitar, but couldn't as, well, it'd be a waste of asset and money -_- besides, he's not worth it. Not him, nor the huge population of similiar pretends out there.

A phrase for the guys and girls out there who happens to show off with music related stuff, but never actually bothering to know anything about it - "either love it, or get lost". Please do not ruin the reputation of the people (like myself) who happen to do it for the love of music, and not the for sake of 'showing off'.

So, next time you happen to buy a 'Trivium' T-shirt, make sure you listen to atleast a track from 'Ascendancy' (or any of their other albums). Oh I'm sorry, you're not into metal? Awww, but honey, why do you bother to wear their T-shirts when their music cannot satisfy your appetite? So, kiddo, start listening to the 'Backstreet Boys', and maybe later, you can try heavy shit ;)

Anyways, I'm going to surrender myself to the frequency and intensity of 'All That Remains' for the next half an hour. Give them a try metal-lovers (I'm sure most you of have already did). I'm in love with their album 'Overcome', going to give ear to the others too, soon.

So this is Rey, signing off.

Rawk on \m/
Peace V
